Atlantic Sunset – the latest sunset in Europe
In the framework of Interreg Cooperation Day and the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, Cabo Touriñán, in Muxía, and the Plaza Stephen Hawking in Cabo Fisterra (Galicia, Spain) will host Atlantic Sunset – the latest in Europe on 19 September.
First, at 18:00, participants will meet the first informative sign of the Atlantic Sunset project referring to the last sunset of mainland Europe. Then, at 19:30, the Atlantic Sunset project is introduced close to one of the westernmost points on continental Europe and a common final destination of pilgrims from the St James Way.
This special evening will bring attention to the unique beauty of sunsets in the Atlantic regions, especially meaningful for pilgrims who end their journey at this emblematic spot. The initiative also aims to show alternative ways of appreciating the West Coast, fostering respect for the environment and social values, and encouraging tourism that coexists harmoniously with other local activities.
At the same time, the event will highlight the concrete benefits of European cooperation, with a focus on the Atlantic Sunset project and the support made possible through European funds.
The event comes to life thanks to the joint efforts of the CEER Foundation, the University of Santiago de Compostela, Wireless Galicia, and the University of Sevilla.
