Frugal Cities Project & Cork Repair Café: Hands-on event for sustainable living
As part of Interreg Cooperation Day, the Frugal Cities Project (FEEL – Frugal Cities through Energy Efficiency and Low-tech communities), funded by the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 programme, is hosting an event in collaboration with Cork Repair Café on 28 September 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Lough Community Centre.
The Cork Repair Café strives to keep your possessions in use for as long as possible by repairing and reusing items, reducing the demand for new resources.
The Frugal Cities Project aims to develop frugality in eight regions across Europe and improve policies to support the most vulnerable citizens. Employing sufficiency and community cooperation, the project adopts good practices from partner regions to demonstrate the benefits of a frugal way of life. The frugal concept is used to revolutionise policy by transitioning from a life based on materiality to one based on human needs and a socially just distribution of resources.
On 28 September 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Lough Community Centre, attendees can learn how to apply frugal principles in their own lives and take advantage of the expertise available to repair personal items such as textiles, small appliances, and other household objects.
This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the practical and policy benefits of frugality, combining hands-on repair skills with insights from a European-wide project promoting sustainable and socially just living.
