Interreg IPA Romania-Serbia Marks Cooperation Day 2025 with Exciting Events in Timisoara
On 30 September, starting at 12:00, the Multifunctional Hall of the Timis County Council will host a ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of Interreg at European Union level. On this occasion, the Programme authorities will also celebrate over 20 years of cross-border cooperation between Romania and Serbia, co-funded by the European Union. The most successful projects implemented since the Neighbourhood Programme 2004-2006, from PHARE and CARDS to Interreg IPA funds, will be recognized and awarded. The event will also showcase the results and long-term impact of these initiatives in fostering regional development, partnership, and cooperation across the border.
On 1 October, participants will take part in a field visit to the strategic project “Repairing of the navigation infrastructure on the Bega Canal” (RORS15), financed under the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Romania-Serbia Programme 2014-2020. The visit will include a boat trip from Timisoara to the Sanmihaiu Român hydrotechnical node, offering a direct experience of the reopening of the canal to navigation after more than 70 years.
