Celebrating Interreg Cooperation Day 2025 in South Adriatic
4 October 2025 – Taranto Molo Sant'Eligio
Interreg Cooperation Day is just around the corner! This year, the South Adriatic will mark the date with events dedicated to the blue economy in Taranto (Italy), under the slogan: “Inspired by the Sea: Waves of Cooperation for a Stronger Adriatic Blue Economy.”
On Saturday 4 October 2025, the IPA South Adriatic programme will celebrate together with Jonian Dolphin Conservation the results of the projects BioTours and BioTours 2.0.
These projects bring people closer to the sea, transforming scientific research into a shared adventure. By listening to the “voice” of dolphins and collecting data on their lives, visitors and researchers together build a story about the richness of the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Every encounter becomes a way to understand the delicate balance of the marine ecosystem and the need to protect it for future generations.
Watching dolphins leap from the waves or quietly surface beside the boat is more than a spectacle—it is an unforgettable moment that connects us with the deep life of the sea. Cetaceans are not only symbols of beauty and freedom, but also living indicators of the health of our waters. Through their movements, their presence, and even their silences, they tell us the story of the sea and remind us of our duty to protect it.
The Taranto event interweaves the Blue Economy with the protection of the marine ecosystem. We will begin at Ketos – Euro-Mediterranean Centre of the Sea and Cetaceans, before setting sail on two catamarans together with the researchers of Jonian Dolphin Conservation. Among dolphins and the surprises of the Gulf of Taranto, we will collect data and turn every observation into a concrete act of care for the sea.
Let yourself be inspired by the sea. Join us in Taranto!
