Interreg for Safety. Cooperation that protects communities.
What a day it was in Giurgiu! On 29 September, the Interreg VI-A Romania–Bulgaria Programme brought together partners, rescuers and citizens to celebrate Interreg Cooperation Day 2025 through a powerful and hands-on event - “Interreg for Safety”.
Hosted by the Giurgiu County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the event turned the spotlight on real cooperation in action. Participants experienced live demonstrations of state-of-the-art rescue equipment, first-aid exercises, and practical simulations — all made possible thanks to the Interreg-funded project RoBg-427 “Partnerships for Overcoming Disasters for a Safer Region”.
Beyond the impressive technical displays, the event carried a deeper message: when communities on both sides of the Danube work together, they become stronger and safer.
To mark 35 years of Interreg, everyone joined in planting the Tree of Cooperation — a symbolic gesture celebrating unity, resilience, and the shared commitment of Romania and Bulgaria to protect their people and their environment.
