Interreg 35 years – Interreg in Romania
On 12–13 November 2025, Bucharest will host the closing event of the national campaign “Interreg 35 Years - Interreg in Romania”, part of the wider Interreg Cooperation Day initiative. Over two days, the Palace of Parliament will bring together approximately 250 participants – from EU and national institutions to project partners, experts and citizens - to celebrate 35 years of European cooperation and reflect on Romania’s 18 years of participation in these programmes.
Celebrating a year of cooperation and results
Organised by the National Authority of Romania for the Interreg Programmes within the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration of Romania, the event marks the conclusion of a year dedicated to showcasing the results and impact of Interreg across the country. Thirty-one Romanian project partners will share their stories and experiences, highlighting how cooperation continues to shape communities and regions.
Representatives from all 12 Interreg programmes active in Romania, as well as from the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), will take part in discussions on topics ranging from innovation and sustainability to governance and citizen engagement.
The programme will feature interactive sessions, project showcases and networking spaces designed to exchange ideas, share experiences, and strengthen the Interreg community in Romania.
Looking to the future
The event will also give a platform to young voices - including students from the FORYouth project, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) - reflecting the next generation’s perspective on European collaboration.
Registration is open until 2 November 2025 for experts, beneficiaries, stakeholders and anyone interested in European cooperation.
