Description

The Interreg VI-A programme Germany/Bavaria – Austria 2021 – 2027 is one of 73 cross-border funding programmes within the European Territorial Cooperation (Interreg). The funding priorities within these programmes are specially tailored to the respective programme area to promote and strengthen cross-border cooperation in a targeted manner. All Interreg programmes are part of the European cohesion policy 2021-2027. Around €8 billion from the Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is available for Interreg in this funding period. The Interreg programme Germany/Bavaria – Austria accounts for around €61.5 million from this budget.

In the programming period 2021 – 2027, the long tradition of cross-border cooperation in the programme area will be continued and thematically focused on the main challenges. To this end, the departments responsible for the programme drew up the cooperation programme with the participation of numerous interested parties from civil society and the public sector.

Five main topics, so-called priority axes (PA), were defined:

  • Sustainable Economy
  • Resilient Environment
  • Sustainable Tourism
  • Integrated Regional Development
  • Cross-Border Governance

The cooperation programme is based on the regulations of the European Commission (EU) 2021/1060, 2021/1059 and 2021/1058, as well as two implementing legal acts, which, among other things, provide the framework for the main content of the Interreg programmes of the EU funding programming period 2021 – 2027 determine. The five priority axes of the Interreg programme Germany/Bavaria – Austria are divided into a total of seven specific objectives (SO), in which the projects with their planned measures must be able to be classified. A project’s contribution to a Specific Objective is defined, among other things, by output and result indicators. Output and result indicators measure the achievement of the programme’s objectives. At the same time, they are a quantitative expression of the project’s success and the achievement of the project’s objectives. The aim is to determine which output the project implementation generated and which long-term result is achieved.
