One Mediterranean, One Responsibility, One Future-Interreg Cooperation Day 2026 in Alexandria, Egypt
Interreg NEXT MED will celebrate Interreg Cooperation Day 2026 in Alexandria, Egypt, with a community beach clean-up focused on marine litter, environmental awareness and local engagement.
The event will take place at Marine Scout, West Alexandria, Egypt on 2 October 2026. Participants will gather at the Anna Lindh Foundation at 08:00. The event will start at 09:00, and activities will continue until approximately 16:30, followed by departure.
Under the theme “One Mediterranean, One Responsibility, One Future,” the event will combine a beach clean-up and waste segregation, recycling and marine-litter learning activities, environmental games and community engagement. Participants will learn about plastic pollution, sustainable consumption and circular-economy solutions while taking practical action to protect Alexandria’s Mediterranean coastline.
The event is organised by the Interreg NEXT MED Programme Eastern Mediterranean Branch Office together with the Anna Lindh Foundation, an international organisation based in Alexandria that promotes dialogue and cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Technical support will be provided by Banlastic Egypt, an Alexandria-based environmental organisation specialised in tackling plastic pollution through awareness, beach clean-ups, waste segregation and sustainable practices. For this event, Banlastic will support the beach clean-up methodology, waste segregation, plastic-pollution learning activities and sustainable event practices.
Through practical environmental action, the event aims to bring together young people, students, volunteers, local communities and environmental actors while promoting greater responsibility for protecting the Mediterranean coast.
