Future Baltic Sea 2040: South Baltic projects connect for a shared vision

On 3 November 2026, representatives of Interreg projects and regional institutions will meet at Gdańsk University of Technology for the Interreg Cooperation Day, “Future Baltic Sea 2040.” The event will create space for participants to explore how solutions developed by individual projects can complement one another and respond to shared challenges across the South Baltic region.

The programme is designed to encourage practical exchange and collaboration. During a project speed-dating session, project representatives will introduce their work and discuss the challenges they address, the resources and knowledge they can offer, and the support they need from other projects or sectors. Participants will then work in teams focused on five themes: energy-positive farms and rural areas; climate-neutral cities, heating and mobility; clean industry and circular production; resilient Baltic coasts; and sustainable tourism and cross-border communities. In the workshops, teams will identify relevant project solutions, explore gaps and shared needs, and develop new ideas for cooperation.

The day will conclude with the creation of a shared map of the South Baltic region. Teams will place models of their ideas on the map and connect them to show potential links between projects, places and resources. The result will offer a collective vision of how cross-border cooperation can contribute to environmental, social and economic benefits in the region by 2040.

The event will take place from 10:00 to 15:15 at Heweliusz Yard, Gdańsk University of Technology.
