Discover how the Interreg Project Slam 2026–2027 journey unfolds

From the storytelling phase to the six finalists now producing their videos

Red stage curtains are illuminated by dramatic lighting, casting bright and dark patterns. Silhouettes of audience members are visible in the foreground, and some instruments or equipment can be seen at the sides of the stage.

How it works

Interreg Slam 2026 - 2027 unfolds in three stages: from shaping your story, to producing a professional video, to presenting it live on a European stage. Below you can see what happens at each step of the journey.
Storytelling 1
Three vintage typewriters are displayed side by side on a wooden surface. The image is heavily distorted with glitch effects, creating horizontal lines and color shifts that obscure details. Kick-off, training, submission of stories
Video production 2
Distorted, pixelated image with diagonal lines, muted colors, and unclear shapes, making it difficult to identify any objects or subject. The image appears abstract due to the heavy digital glitch effect. Script, filming, editing and post-production
Grand Finale 3
A tennis player in motion, ready to hit a ball with a racket, is set against a blurred, vibrant background of purple, pink, and orange hues with digital glitch effects. Creative performance and awards

1. Storytelling

The journey began in April 2026 with the kick-off event. Throughout May, participants received professional storytelling training through the Interact Academy. During these expert-led sessions, participants learned how to identify the emotional core of their project, structure a narrative that captivates audiences and communicate your impact authentically.

Stories were submitted by June 2026, and from all submissions, six finalists were selected

2. Video Production

Each finalist receives comprehensive professional support to transform their written story into a high-quality video.

This includes script development, filming, editing and post-production. The entire process is provided at no cost.

The result is a compelling professional video and a permanent promotional asset worth thousands of euros, which can continue to support your project’s communication long after the competition ends.

In November 2026, all six finalist videos are launched simultaneously in a public social media competition across Europe. The campaign reaches hundreds of thousands of people, generating visibility and engagement at European level.

The video that captures the highest level of public support receives the Social Media Award.

3. Grand Finale

The journey culminates at the Interreg Knowledge Fair in March 2027.

Before stepping onto the stage, finalists receive intensive performance coaching. They then present their story live in front of an audience of European cooperation leaders, policy makers and project representatives.

This is where stories move beyond the screen and come alive through creative performance.

During the final event, three awards are presented: the Interreg Slam 2026 - 2027 Winner, chosen by live audience vote; the European Commission Award, selected by representatives of the European Commission; and the Social Media Award.

Beyond these distinctions, every finalist gains professional development, creative production support and a European platform that amplifies project impact far beyond standard communication activities.
