Europe Day 2025: A Celebration of Unity and Cooperation
A vision that changed Europe
Back in 1950, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman shared an idea that would reshape the continent. He proposed a way to make conflict between European nations not just unlikely, but impossible, by creating a foundation for lasting cooperation. His vision laid the groundwork for what we know today as the European Union.
Seventy-five years on, we still look back with gratitude and pride at that bold step. The spirit of unity that started with the Schuman Declaration continues to inspire new generations, reminding us that peace and collaboration are at the heart of the European project.
Celebrating 35 years of Interreg
Interreg has been at the forefront of bringing European regions closer for the past 35 years. Since its launch in 1990, it has been a vital tool in fostering cooperation between neighboring countries, helping communities overcome shared challenges and build a stronger, more cohesive Europe.
From environmental projects to cultural exchanges, Interreg has connected people, ideas, and resources, breaking down barriers and making cooperation a natural part of European life. As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead to the future, one where cross-border, transnational, interregional and outermost regions partnerships continue to flourish.
A moment to reflect and renew
Europe Day 2025 invites us to pause and reflect on how far we’ve come. It’s also a chance to look to the future with renewed enthusiasm, inspired by the collaborative spirit that defines Europe. As we mark this significant day, we remember that unity doesn’t just happen, it’s something we build together, every single day.
Happy Europe Day!
