Last chance to apply for RegioStars Awards

What

In this annual competition organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy projects with good, innovative practices and results in regional development get an award for their success. It is all about finding the most original, innovative and inspiring EU-funded projects in regional development. The RegioStars Award categories change every year always having one winning project per category.

This year’s categories:

  • Supporting smart industrial transition
  • Achieving sustainability through low carbon emissions
  • Creating better access to public services
  • Tackling migration challenges
  • Topic of the year 2018: Investing in cultural heritage

Who

Project beneficiaries are required to express their interest and coordinate their applications with their programmes. The projects should be fully implemented or able to demonstrate progress in the achievement of the original objectives in order to be eligible. Therefore, the projects starting date must be after 1st January 2008 and should be mature enough when having a starting date after 1st January 2014. It is important to keep in mind that projects which were already nominated for RegioStars cannot take part again. Each programme is able to nominate 2 of their projects in each award category.

How

Submitting your project is easy and must be done on the online submission platform. The online application platform is open until 15th April 2018 (midnight).

The final submission will be done by the project manager, with the approval of the managing authority. The endorsement form for the managing authority can be found on the RegioStars Awards 2018 online submission platform.

The official RegioStars award ceremony, to which all winners and finalists are invited, will take place during the European Week of Regions and Cities on 9th October 2018.
