The aim of the programme is to address the common challenges of cross-border regions through joint cross-border projects. The programme focuses on the following areas:

  • encouraging business investment in research and innovation, and creating interconnections and synergies between businesses, R & D centers and higher education environments;
  • investing in education, training and training to acquire skills and lifelong learning by developing and implementing joint education, training and training programs;
  • preservation, conservation, promotion and development of natural and cultural heritage; protecting and restoring biodiversity, protecting and restoring the soil and supporting ecosystem services, including the NATURA 2000 network and ecological infrastructure;

The preparation of the new Interreg VA programme between the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic for the programming period 2014-2020 started in February 2012. The preparation was covered by the managing authority (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic) and the national authority (Ministry of Local Development of the Czech Republic). Representatives of Slovak and Czech programme partners participated in the preparation of the new programme.
