Communicating cooperation: the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE story blog
European cooperation is often presented in terms of budgets, calls and regulations. The story blog focuses on places, people and practical situations to explain how transnational cooperation works.
Instead of technical descriptions, the blog shows how cooperation helps cities and regions address shared challenges. It also presents solutions that may be relevant elsewhere.
Each story starts from a clear challenge. Historic neighbourhoods need to reduce emissions without compromising heritage. Farmers face pressure to lower emissions while maintaining productivity. Transport links depend not only on infrastructure, but also on coordination. These examples help explain why regions work together.
From local examples to wider use
The blog shows how specific examples can be useful in other contexts.
ZEB4ZEN shows how historic neighbourhoods in Karlovac, Palmanova, Zamość and Quedlinburg explore ways to reduce emissions while preserving cultural heritage. The example illustrates how cooperation between energy experts, heritage specialists and public authorities can support approaches that other cities may consider.
Carbon Farming CE addresses a technical topic through a practical question: how to make agriculture more climate-resilient while reducing emissions and maintaining farmers’ confidence. Through testing and exchange across central Europe, the project contributes to knowledge that can support implementation in other regions.
BATCo highlights another aspect of cooperation. By aligning priorities, data and planning across borders, the project improved the conditions for long-term transport development. This shows that cooperation can create value before visible investments are made.
What other programmes can learn
The story blog illustrates a communication approach that other programmes may use:
- Start from concrete challenges that are easy to recognise
- Explain technical topics through practical situations
- Link local examples to wider relevance
This approach makes cooperation activities easier to understand.
Use for programmes and stakeholders
Clear communication supports the use of project results.
For programme authorities, policymakers and practitioners, accessible stories can help identify relevant solutions and encourage further exploration. For citizens and other stakeholders, they provide an entry point into a policy field that can otherwise be difficult to follow.
The story blog shows how communication can help make the results of transnational cooperation more visible and easier to use across regions.
