Interreg Cooperarion Tourism Day in Montenegro
On September 18, the Interreg VI-A Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro programme will host an exciting Interreg Cooperation Day in Herceg Novi, Montenegro. The event, running from 9:30 to 14:00, will highlight regional collaboration through various activities, all delivered in Croatian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin.
The day begins with a visit to the Herceg Novi Fire Brigade, where attendees will witness a demonstration by the Rescue and Protection Service, showcasing their expertise in disaster preparedness—part of the “Flood & Fire” project, which bolstered local capacities to respond to natural and man-made disasters.
Following this, participants will tour the Ivan Goran Kovačić Secondary School and attend a public lecture on European integration, fostering discussions on cross-border collaboration.
A joint bicycle ride with students along the historic Ćiro trail will spotlight the ĆIRO II project, a key part of the event. This initiative aims to strengthen and diversify the tourism offerings of Herzegovina, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and Boka-Kotorska Bay by developing a joint tourism destination centered around the Old Narrow Gauge Railway ĆIRO. The ride will symbolically connect the three countries, highlighting the program’s theme, “Cooperation Overcoming Borders.”
This event not only celebrates European cooperation but also offers participants a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the region’s interconnectedness, both in tourism and in collaborative resilience efforts.
