Interreg Cooperation Day Cross-Border half marathon & project visits in the cross border region in Austria and Slovenia

This year’s Interreg Slovenia-Austria event offers a unique opportunity to showcase the achievements of cross-border collaboration between the two countries.

The day begins in Dravograd with the second cross-border half marathon, the DRAU-DRAVA RUN, held under the motto “2 COUNTRIES, 1 GOAL.” This sports event, one of the small-scale projects co-financed by the program, is organized by project partners and brings together running enthusiasts from both sides of the border.

As part of Interreg Cooperation Day, attendees also participate in visits to three highlighted projects, with over 200 participants from across the program area, representing at least eight regions. Besides cheering on the half marathon runners, attendees have the chance to visit Bukovje Mansion and the Geo.dom Visitor Center at Karavanke Geopark on Peca. These destinations are part of the innovative geotourism experiences made possible by successful cross-border collaboration between Slovenia and Austria, as featured in projects like NatureGame and NaKult, both co-financed by the Interreg Slovenia-Austria program.

Registration for the event is open until September 13, 2024, inviting citizens to join this celebration of cooperation and community.
