Interreg Cooperation Day in Kladovo, Serbia
The Interreg IPA Romania-Serbia Programme invites you to join us for Interreg Cooperation Day, taking place on Tuesday, 1st October 2024, from 11:00 am (Serbian time) at the Fetislam Fortress in Kladovo, Republic of Serbia. Together, we will celebrate the spirit of Interreg cooperation and showcase the remarkable achievements of Romanian-Serbian projects funded through the European Union's cross-border cooperation programmes.
The Fetislam Fortress, recently restored with the support of EU funding, will provide a historic setting for this celebration of Romanian-Serbian collaboration. Guests will have the unique opportunity to join a free guided tour, exploring the rich history of the fortress. Additionally, the Cross-border Projects Fair, set up in front of the Visitors’ Centre, will offer an exclusive glimpse into the ongoing cooperation projects that are shaping the future of this region.
Looking ahead, we invite citizens to participate in a consultation on the future of the region beyond 2027, offering everyone a chance to have their say. As cultural ties between Romanians and Serbians have always been strong, children from both sides of the border will showcase their heritage through traditional dances. The day will end on a high note with an exciting music concert by a rising girl band that has gained popularity in recent years.
Interreg Cooperation Day is celebrated annually around 21st September as part of a pan-European campaign facilitated by Interact and implemented by Interreg Programmes and their partners. The campaign aims to bring cross-border cooperation closer to the public, highlighting the many benefits it brings to local communities.
This year’s theme, “European Union Values Overcoming Borders,” invites us to reflect on the impact of borders in Europe and the strides made to overcome the obstacles they pose to citizens’ everyday lives. These efforts contribute to strengthening the rights to travel, study, live, and work freely across the European Union.
