Voices of the Mediterranean: Stories of change and cooperation across borders
ENI CBC MED, the programme preceding Interreg Next Med Programme, committed to fostering transnational cooperation across the Mediterranean, has released its new publication “Voices of the Mediterranean”. It features 24 stories of people and communities making a difference through cooperation and innovation.
With support from this EU-funded programme, these inspiring individuals have found ways to improve their lives, uplift their communities and protect the environment.
The Mediterranean, known for its rich culture and diverse ecosystems, faces issues like water scarcity, energy demands and climate change. Coastal areas are also impacted by mass tourism, and local businesses must adapt to global competition while embracing digital and green transitions.
“Voices of the Mediterranean” not only highlights the complex challenges of the Mediterranean region but also celebrates the power of cooperation and resilience that drives progress and innovation.
In the publication, you’ll find a variety of stories, from better water management and renewable energy adoption to waste reduction and cultural preservation. It features young entrepreneurs turning challenges into opportunities, ethical models for elderly care that foster community spirit, and the crucial role bees play in ecosystems. Additionally, it highlights the resilience of local fishermen and legislative experiments that have made real policy changes.
This collection shows how, when people from different backgrounds and countries work together, creativity and determination can lead to meaningful, positive change across the Mediterranean.
