Description

PROGRAMME FACTS

The Programme will support cooperation projects with EUR 106,987,000.00 from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the IPA III Fund. It continues the successful cooperation of the three countries from 2014-2020 and aims to strengthen social, economic, and territorial development of the cross-border area. The Programme will address economic transition processes, climate change, and the socioeconomic consequences of COVID-19. It will reduce disparities in development and increase the capacity of the programme area to recover from the economic crisis.

The Programme’s strategic objective is to foster smart, green, and inclusive development of the cross-border region by implementing joint projects within the framework of three EU policy objectives: Smarter Europe, Greener Europe, and More Social Europe. It aims to address challenges to sustainable development such as climate change and environmental degradation, and contribute to the achievement of the European Green Plan and the United Nations Programme on Sustainable Development.

The Programme is in line with the general objective of IPA III to support beneficiaries in implementing reforms required to align with Union values. It has four key priorities: smart investments in research, innovation, and competitive entrepreneurship; green investments in environmental protection and efficient risk management; accessible and resilient health services; and sustainable and inclusive tourism and culture.

The Programme area includes 12 counties in Croatia, Brčko District, and 109 municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 12 municipalities in Montenegro. It covers over 87,453.95 km² of territory and over 5.1 million inhabitants.
